Obama in Saint Paul

President Obama was recently in St. Paul and made a stop at the Grande Ole Creamery on Grand Avenue. The ice cream there, in my opinion, is really heavenly. It was reported that Mr. Obama ordered a single scoop of Black Hills Gold in a waffle cone. I'm sure Michelle would have frowned on a double scoop. I've never tried, let alone heard, of that flavor. I might just have to put it on my list.

Photo taken by Ben Garvin for the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Capital

Noel and I went to the History Museum today. This is what the sky looked like just after a downpour and just before another one. This is one of the wettest Junes I've ever experienced. I think we're on track to beat the record set back in the 1890s.

Dixie's On Grand

Noel and I ate at Dixie's on Grand today. I had a shrimp po' boy and she had a pulled pork sandwich. Delicious. Up above the bar there's a toy train that runs. Constantly.

Beautiful Fall Day 2

Looking north on the Lake Street Bridge. The St. Paul side of the Mississippi is in the foreground and the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis is in the background. Photo taken Saturday 10-13-13.

Beautiful Fall Day 1

Dale and I took a walk on the Lake Street Bridge crossing the Mississippi. The fall colors are looking nice. Photo is looking east toward St. Paul.

Stogies On Grand

Went over to Stogies On Grand today to pick up a cigar. This is one of the best cigar shops in the metro area in my opinion.

St. Catherine University

I spent a lot of time at the College of St. Catherine (now St. Catherine University) way back in the 1980s when I was an undergrad. I actually attended the College of St. Thomas (now the University of St. Thomas), but all my coursework in elementary education was at St. Kate's. This photograph was snapped from the top of the parking ramp at the Highland Park Lifetime Fitness in St. Paul. Just to the right of the center of the picture you can just make out the bell tower of the chapel on the St. Kate's campus. I sang in the St. Thomas/St. Catherine Choral and we'd perform our Christmas concerts in this beautiful chapel.  Photo taken 4-4-12.

Linus at the Xcel

This sculpture of Linus is found at the Xcel Energy Center. On February 20, 2010, Dale and I went to a Swarm game at the Xcel with our friends Alyn and Chris.  The Swarm is the local Lacrosse team.

Noel and I ate lunch at W.A. Frost today. I snapped this photo looking up Selby Avenue with the St. Paul Cathedral in the distance.
