The St. Paul Cathedral

Noel and I ate lunch at W.A. Frost today. I snapped this photo looking up Selby Avenue with the St. Paul Cathedral in the distance.

The Joe and Noel Post Christmas Shopping Adventure

Noel and I did our annual post-Christmas tchotchke shopping today. We started with lunch at W.A. Frost and then checked out a few St. Paul stores for post-Christmas deals. The above photo shows the Christmas tree at W.A. Frost.

W.A. Frost Part 2

The following is from the W.A. Frost and Company brochure:

"The main floor of the Dacotah housed a ladies' bath and manicure establishment, and the pharmacy of Mr. William A. Frost."

"Frost's pharmacy is now the W.A. Frost bar - a gathering place full of historic character. The bar was rescued from a building in Superior, Wisconsin. The marble tabletops were once the walls of the old Northwestern National Bank, and many of the doors are from the old James J. Hill School on Oxford and Selby. The tin ceiling is original."

W.A. Frost Part 1

My friend Noel and I went to W.A. Frost & Co. for lunch today. I had the cassolet and it was quiet tasty. This has long been one of my favorite restaurants. Frost is housed in the Dacotah Building which is full of charm. The following is from the W.A. Frost and Company brochure:

"In 1889, the Dacotah Building was built in the Italian Renaissance style, featuring arched doorways and windows, copper cornices, and walls of sandstone and brick. The upper floors housed fine apartments with fireplaces, ornate plasterwork and modern features such as electric doorbells and a system of speaking tubes."
